Media Well Done, LLC is an independent publishing imprint dedicated to meaningful stories, serious ideas, and books that illuminate the people, histories, conflicts, and moral questions too often left outside the center of public conversation.
Founded in Texas by author, journalist, and podcaster Melvin E. Edwards, Media Well Done publishes work rooted in strong storytelling, thoughtful inquiry, and cultural purpose. Our interests include literary fiction, historically grounded nonfiction, memoir, law and justice, overlooked history, public memory, family legacy, faith, identity, resilience, and books that connect personal experience to larger social meaning.
We believe publishing should be more than production. It should be a partnership built on editorial care, professional presentation, and a clear understanding of the audience a book is meant to reach.
Media Well Done is especially interested in books with a strong sense of purpose — stories that ask important questions, recover hidden histories, challenge easy assumptions, or give voice to experiences that deserve deeper attention.
We are drawn to work that combines literary quality with emotional clarity. The books we publish should have something at stake: a moral tension, a historical revelation, a personal transformation, a cultural argument, or a story that helps readers see the world with greater depth.
Our publishing interests include:
Literary and historical fiction
Character-driven novels with moral, historical, legal, or cultural depth.
Narrative nonfiction
Deeply reported, researched, or personally grounded nonfiction with strong storytelling.
Memoir and family history
Personal stories that speak beyond one life and connect to broader questions of identity, memory, place, and inheritance.
Law, justice, and public memory
Books that explore how societies remember, forget, rationalize, repair, or fail to confront harm.
Overlooked stories
Work centered on people, communities, histories, or experiences that deserve a wider audience.
Media Well Done exists to elevate stories with substance.
We are not interested in publishing books simply because they can be printed. We are interested in books that can matter — to readers, communities, book clubs, classrooms, libraries, interviewers, reviewers, and future conversations.
As an independent press, we value selectivity, clarity, and collaboration. Each project receives thoughtful attention to editorial development, design, positioning, distribution, and long-term visibility. Our goal is to help authors present their work with professionalism, purpose, and respect for the reader.
Authors who work with Media Well Done can expect a hands-on, transparent publishing process shaped around the needs of the book.
Depending on the project, our publishing support may include editorial review, developmental guidance, copyediting coordination, cover direction, interior formatting, ISBN assignment, metadata development, print and ebook distribution, media kit preparation, award submission planning, podcast/media opportunities, and strategic positioning for readers, reviewers, bookstores, libraries, and book clubs.
Because we are a small independent imprint, we are selective about the projects we take on. We are most interested in authors whose work aligns with our mission and who are prepared to participate actively in bringing their books to readers.
Media Well Done publishes professionally produced books for modern readers across print and digital formats. Our books may be distributed through major online retailers, independent bookstore channels, library-facing platforms, and direct promotional campaigns, depending on the needs of the title.
We believe the details matter: title positioning, cover design, metadata, author biography, book description, review strategy, media outreach, and the way a book is introduced to the world.
Media Well Done welcomes thoughtful submissions from writers whose work aligns with our editorial mission.
Before submitting, authors should review our current guidelines and prepare a query letter, synopsis or proposal, author biography, word count, and sample pages.
